My approach

I am an integrative therapist and counsellor and this means that I draw from a range of psychotherapy modalities and adapt how I work to suit the needs of the client, where my role is to hold space and be an empathetic witness to what unfolds. I work mainly from a psychodynamic and humanistic perspective, where I blend elements of mindful awareness, body psychotherapy, CBT and trauma informed therapy.

I have a background in education and the wellness sector and this along with my experience as a therapist  allows me to intuitively and empathically support clients facing challenges, in an inclusive space, enabling us to make sense of our world. There is no right or wrong way to think or feel in the therapy room and every experience is welcomed with non judgement. My work is founded on my core values of respect, authenticity, curiosity and compassion.

My approach is rooted in relational psychotherapy, which explores how our past experiences and relationships shape the way we connect with ourselves and others. I place great importance on the connection between us within the therapeutic process. I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to fostering trust, safety, and understanding. By building a genuine, empathic connection, we can explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences more openly, enabling deeper self-awareness, connection and growth. Through this relationship, we can also explore past patterns in relationships and gain insight into how these may influence current experiences. Ultimately, I believe that it is through this relational dynamic that meaningful change can occur.

I realize that if I were stable and steady and static, I would be living death. So I accept confusion and uncertainty and fear and emotional highs and lows because they are the price I willingly pay for a flowing, perplexing, exciting life.
